Pretty typical Japanese style stick. The buttons aren't the greatest but they're circular pieces of plastic and they get the job done without feeling sticky or mushy, so everything's fine there. The stick itself is fine and overall it's light, but feels pretty durable. Unless I'm horribly mistaken, it's a square gate but it still feels smooth if you know what you're doing.
The only competition this stick has, unless you mod another one somehow, is the Mad Catz one. If you read my review you'll see how I feel about that, but the problem with mine was in the manufacturing. There was nothing I could do on that stick (when it worked) that I can't do on this one, and vice versa. In the end, the ability for the stick to do what your brain is thinking is all that matters. This is supposedly harder to mod than the Mad Catz one, so you should consider that when choosing.
I would recommend getting your stick through Amazon just because it's so easy to return a defective product. Both sticks have 90 day warranties, which, even if standard for sticks, doesn't inspire much confidence. This is especially important if you get the Mad Catz one. I've never had a brand new product that was defective until the Mad Catz stick. Combine that with their reputation (which is improving, to be fair), and you're gonna want a nice return policy to fall back on if you need it.
I can't give this a 5 because there are obviously better (and more expensive) sticks, but then again I can do any move I want on it consistently. Overall, I'd say 4.5 stars and whether you get this or Mad Catz is just a matter of taste.
